Yes, you read that correctly…no matter what MLM company you are with, you have exactly 4 products to offer. Whether you have a product catalog that is hundreds of pages or you offer a service, until you appreciate your 4 (and only 4) products, you’ll be spinning your wheels.
In network marketing your four products are: 1) The company’s products and services, 2) The company’s independent distributor/representative opportunity, 3) You the sponsor, and 4) Your support and training system.
Now let’s think about how distinctive each of your 4 products is.
1) The company’s products and services –
I’m sure they are excellent. That’s why you enrolled with the company in the first place. MLM companies generally have wonderful products. The trouble is, once a consumer knows about the wonderful products, they can get them from any one of thousands of distributors. Sure, most customers will be loyal to you if you were the first one that familiarized them with the product and your prices and services are on par with the market. But, if a superior product from another company comes kiss them goodbye.
2) The company’s independent distributor/representative opportunity –
Again, I’m sure it is wonderful. That’s why you got involved ,right? But again, just like with the products themselves, the opportunity is available from countless sources.
3) You the sponsor – Now we are getting into unique territory.
There is only 1 you. You’ve got your pros and cons and hopefully you are applying the strengths and continuing to work on your “development areas”. Your prospect cannot get You from any other place. If your team already wants more and more and more of you, great, you have a tremendous personal brand. Now imagine strangers. What if they fought for you attention? I want you to pause for a second and ask yourself honestly… would you get into business you? Are you an effective MLM mentor? If the answer is no, then why should anyone join your team? Why follow you when they can get the products and opportunity elsewhere? If you are struggling in network marketing, personal branding is your answer.
4) Your support and training system –
Within every network marketing company there are systems that don’t work, systems that work if you work them aggressively, and systems that provide relatively smooth sailing to success with consistent effort. The system you personally adopt and teach is a product in an of itself. And you shouldn’t always take your upline’s word for it that his/her system is the best. Do your own investigating. In this Internet age, many network marketing success manuals are still fully based on friends and family techniques or the good old three-foot rule to generate network marketing leads. The system is as much part of the product as YOU are. Internet MLM is hot right now. Make sure your system fits the 21st century why of doing business.
Look back at the list and notice that the most unique product you have to offer your prospect is YOU. What is your personal brand as a leader? Do you even have a brand of your own or do you generally edify your upline? That activity builds your upline’s brand, not yours! The products are great, the company is great. YOU need to be greater still. So stop inviting your prospects to listen to your upline triple black platinum diamond whatever. This activity only serves to further establish THEM as the leader. Take command of your brand. YOU lead. YOU be the BRAND. Its the only product you have 100% control over anyway.
